A Quote that Resonates

March is Women's History Month. My Lovely Mother sent me a very long list of quotes by various females of note: artists, actors, authors, photographers.

This one, of all of them, has touched nine million of my internal alert antenna:

“Write what should not be forgotten.”
Isabel Allende (1942 -- ) Chilean author

She is one of my top 10 favorite authors; strangely, though, I'd never really read any 'quotes' from her. I spent a few minutes this morning on Ms. Allende's website - very interesting place to go. My favorite of her books, and yes, I've read them all, multiple times.

I will put her on my summer reading list, Toni. You would think that an English teacher would be well read, and we are, but most of it is really old stuff. Right now my seniors are reading Hamlet, my Juniors, A Raisin in the Sun. During the school year, all I usually have time for is re-visiting the classics and looking for the next little tidbit to pull out and talk about with my kids.
